Occupational Health and Hygiene
An audiometry exam evaluates how well your hearing functions and can be required where employees are identified as being exposed to a daily personal noise exposure LEP,d (8-hours) of 85dBA or where an employee has been identified as particularly susceptible to noise exposure.
Where personnel are identified as exceeding the upper exposure action value (UEAV) under the Control of Noise at Work Regulations, they should be subject to regular health surveillance to evaluate if there is any damage to their hearing.
Undertaking this type of heath surveillance is a good indicator that a worksite hearing protection programme is effective.
Its recommenced that new employees also have their hearing tested as part an organisation’s employee onboarding and induction programme. Hawkes Health have audiometric testing capabilities.
