What is RT-PCR?

RT-PCR stands for real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (rRT-PCR) and is a method of analysis used to detect infectious diseases, including COVID-19. Our RT PCR tests are only analysed in our UKAS accredited laboratory. The subsequent result is indicative of an individual’s COVID status at the time their sample is taken. We presently charge £119.00 for a next day result including all certification.

It does not show previous infection. the RT PCR tests are internationally recognised as the gold standard for COVID-19 testing by World Health Organisation (WHO) and the backbone of every governments national testing programme.

How do I know if I need a COVID-19 test to travel?

If travelling from the UK, you can check the entry requirements for your destination online at gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice. The EU have introduced a new traffic light system that requires pre-flight testing for individuals departing from several ‘red list’ countries. You can view the latest travel restrictions online at https://reopen.europa.eu/en. Due to the constantly changing global environment entry requirements are subject to change, so keep checking in the weeks and days leading up to your trip.

How long will my Test Take?

Your sample will be collected by one of our nurses using a nasopharyngeal (nose and throat) swab, the process should take no more than 5 minutes and the appointment itself including any administration no more than 15 minutes.

What should I bring to the appointment?

On the day of your appointment, please arrive at your chosen Hawkes Health Centre at your appointed time. You must provide confirmation of your booking, photographic ID (a passport is a MUST if travelling) and please wear a face mask.

How to get my result?

Your sample will be sent to our ISO UKAS accredited laboratory for analysis. Once processed your results will be emailed directly to the email address provided the NEXT DAY following your test – times vary.

Will I receive a ‘fit to fly’ certificate?

Your Hawkes Health COVID-19 RT-PCR test report will contain all necessary information.

Can I cancel my appointment and get a refund?

Yes you can, however, we charge administration fee for each test you wish to cancel. It is £25.00 for an antigen and £30.00 for a RT-PCR test per person.

Please be aware, if you cancel at 24 hours or less test fees are non-refundable.

To cancel, and arrange another appointment and / or request a refund you must email appointments@hawkeshealth.com supplying your name, card holder’s name, your original appointment date & time. PLEASE DO NOT PHONE or email  enquires@hawkeshealth.com this WILL DELAY your refund. Refunds normally take 7 working days to process.

You should contact our accounts department directly in relation to an outstanding refund request. They can be contacted directly by sending an email to accounts@hawkeshealth.com 

Can I change my appointment booking?

We accept changes up to 24 hours before the original appointment time.  Please email appointments@hawkeshealth.com

What’s the difference between a travel test and a private test?

Both tests are RT PCR and conducted in the same manor and produce the same certificate.  Some destinations require your passport information on your certificate, and we will include this where a Travel Test is required.

Can you advise me when I need to take a test?

We will help where we can but cannot guarantee any advice provided on when to take the test due to ever changing government protocols and/or regulations.  We recommend you frequently check with the relevant government website.

How long does it take to get my COVID-19 RT PCR test back?

Results will be confirmed next day following your test. They will be emailed to you with an attachment containing your certificate. Note we test 7 days a week.

I haven’t received my result.

Please, first, check your spam folder.  If using a work or university email, please check your server hasn’t restricted our emails as your results will have an attachment.

If you haven’t received your results by 10pm the day after being tested, please email appointments@hawkeshealth.com 

My result has come back "UNCLEAR"

On occasion the analysis process can return an unclear result. This is exceptionally uncommon.  Please email  appointments@hawkeshealth.com where our COVID team will seek further information from our laboratory where required.
